Robert (Rob) L. Cobb creates wood art specializing in turned segmented bowls and plates. After careers as a Naval aviator and a mathematics teacher, he started turning wood in 2014. He joined the Tidewater Turners, took classes from Woodcraft in Norfolk, and began designing and creating both functional and creative wood art. The segmented wood art combines locally collected native woods with various exotic woods. All woods are their natural color as stains are never used. Designs are original with the artist, inspired by a love of geometry with varying colors and patterns. The finish is a food safe oil/urethane with a satin appearance. The bowls are not fragile and may be used and enjoyed.
