Cynthia Guard

I attended Bowling Green State University and Columbus College of Art and Design in Ohio. I also earned a degree in Interior Design. I later earned Bachelor and Master's Degrees in education and spent 21 years teaching for the Chesapeake Public School System with the Gifted and Talented (GATE) Program. When I retired from teaching and resumed my creative endeavors, I explored many new avenues of interest working with fabric, assemblage, ceramics, alcohol ink, mono-printing, collage, oil and cold wax, and the non-representational Zentangle creative method. I have a genuine love for color, and I try to create lively images that excite the viewer. The natural world and micro-world are often sources for my work. I am fascinated by the flow of water and the organic irregularity of botanicals. I guess you could say my work is influenced by what I see in my mind's eye, compounded by what I experience in life, and completely altered by the time the paint hits the canvas.
