Having grown up and spent many childhood hours along the Nansemond River, I have always been drawn to the healing and tranquil qualities of water and marine life. The gentle laps of the waves, a magnificent sunset or a nearby meadow of flowers can transport me to a place of peaceful serenity. Being able to bring that same sense of beauty and calm to others through my painting instills great joy and happiness.

I began painting over 25 years ago as a way to unwind from life's hectic pace. I took painting lessons from local artist Jessie Schmidt in my early years concentrating in acrylics. Recently, I began my transition to oil painting by taking regular classes from local artist Allison Swan. I have shown my paintings in local festivals, galleries, juried art shows, gift shops and solo exhibitions at Starving Artist Cafe.

As a landscape painter, my inspiration and painting subjects still include local beaches, rivers, creeks, marshes and flora. My work has expanded to include beautiful remembrances from travels to Hawaii, the California Coast, Ireland, Italy and the Caribbean. My hope is to inspire others to get out there and see the world through a different lens and perhaps capture their own dear memory. When I am not painting, I continue to feed my soul through other creative outlets including gardening/floral design, home renovation and staging and decorative furniture restoration.
